There's no price on my speeding ticket -- do I still have to pay it?

aa-ticketQ: "I got pulled over for speeding. The ticket was a non-mandatory court showing. I just need to pay the fine, but there wasn't a price in the ticket box. Does that mean I owe nothing? -- Matt A: "Matt, I'm not sure what the tickets look like in North Carolina. In Washington, if you don't have to appear for court, your fine should be listed on there. But, just because it's not there, does not mean you don't actually owe something. I would recommend anytime there's a question about a ticket that's issued, contact that courthouse. Ask them what they want you to do with it. Make sure you're not going to end up getting some additional fees for not paying on time." -- Washington State Trooper Julie Judson
