Yeah Joe. Once guns are illegal, the criminal will all line up and turn them in and we can all live on lollipop lane. How does no concealed carry work in Chicago? Oh yeah, over 500 murders this year in Chicago alone. Maybe taking guns away worked in England and Australia. Oh wait, their crime rates sky rocketed and gun crimes more than doubled.

Yeah, you're right. Take guns away from law abiding people and all the problems will just magically go away.

Once guns are illegal, LESS people will have them and a chance of such shooting will be lower. Problem for now is that too many guns are in use and people bring them everywhere, and then use when usually they will end up just with fist fighting.

Wrong Alex. England and Australia banned guns all together. Citizens were required to turn them over to the governments. Know what that means? If you guessed that only criminals now have guns then you win. Its well documented on the net/ look it up. Violent crime in both places went up including gun crime.

In Chicago people aren't allowed to carry their guns concealed outside their homes. Over 500 murders this year. Many of those by guns at the hands of criminals.

Tell me again how taking guns out of the hands of law abiding people causes crime to go down. While we are making things illegal maybe we should add cocaine, heroin, meth, etc to that list….oh wait….they are on the list. Hows that drug war working out?

Your way of thinking is flawed in a big way and many many people are going to pay the price of disarming law abiding citizens because of the actions of a few criminals.

You people that think that guns are going to be outlawed it's not going to happen. It is someone like me and my family that know the rules of guns and know how to use them in a proper way are the ones that are going to suffer. My husband just went and bought a new riffle. If anyone owns some different guns legal they will be paying $200.00 a year to have to keep the gun. It isn't the guns that kill it is the person pulling the trigger.

Lynette while I agree with you, you have to read the proposed bill very carefully. One of the provisions states that if a gun shares ONE characteristic with a military weapon it has to be registered under the FFA. ALL guns share ONE characteristic with military weapons…..they shoot bullets. Now thats taking it very literal, but my wife works for a lawyer and sometimes I tend to think the way they do.

I do believe that with data from the previous gun ban available that this new ban will fail. The previous ban did nothing to stop shootings. Columbine happened right in the middle of the previous ban as did several others.

Also, lets say I get laid off from work. I have several guns that, under this proposed legislation, would require me to register them. I can't afford to do that on unemployment. I now have to turn over my for of home defense to the government since I can't pay when they say I have to. So now they have made me, a law abiding citizen, a criminal by owning guns that the tax wasn't payed on.

I have friends that collect guns. Some people collect baseball cards. Some people collect classic cars. My friends collect guns. They're fun to shoot and if need be, god forbid, they're there for defensive purposes as well. Most, if not all, of these guns fall under the new bill. My friends don't have that kind of money laying around. Why should they? They're guns have never killed anyone. Even the gun the shooter used in that school didn't kill anyone. The person holding it did.

How do you "regulate" guns in criminal possession? You know, criminals who won't comply with regulation or new laws. Regulating law abiding people is already being done.
