The Washington State Department of Transportation has announced a number of road closures as part of the Alaskan Way Viaduct construction — the complete list of closures is available here – and here are some highlights of the closures:
North:
Sunday, Dec. 30; Wednesday, Jan. 2–Friday, Jan. 4
- Closed: Fremont on-ramp to southbound SR 99, 9 p.m.-5 a.m. each night
- Closed: Two right lanes of southbound SR 99 on the Aurora Bridge, 10 p.m.-5 a.m. each night
- Closed: Two right lanes of northbound SR 99 on the Aurora Bridge, 9 p.m.-5 a.m. each night
Wednesday, Jan. 2–Friday, Jan. 4
- Sixth Avenue North reduced to one lane of alternating traffic between Thomas and John Streets, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. daily
Wednesday, Jan. 2
- Closed: Sixth Avenue North just north of Denny Way, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Local access will available from John Street.
Thursday, Jan. 3
- Closed: John Street between Sixth Avenue North and Taylor Avenue North, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local access to John Street will be available from Taylor Avenue North.
Friday, Jan. 4
- Closed: Two left lanes on Fourth Avenue between Blanchard and Battery Streets, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Central:
Wednesday, Jan. 2–Friday, Jan. 4
- Closed: Center lane of Bell Street between Third and Fourth Avenues, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.
Thursday, Jan. 3
- Closed: East parking lane and sidewalk on Western Avenue between Madison and Spring Streets, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Closed: Right lane and parking lane on Madison Street between First and Western Avenues, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 3
- Closed: Post Avenue between Madison and Spring Streets, 12 p.m.-3 p.m. Local access will be available from Spring Street.
Friday, Jan. 4
- Closed: East parking lane and sidewalk of Western Avenue between Columbia Street and Marion Street, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Crews will shift northbound traffic on Western Avenue to the west between Marion and Madison Streets, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Parking on the east side of the street will be closed. Crews will maintain two-way traffic on Western Avenue and access to the Federal Building driveway.
