Get out and move Wednesday for National Walking Day

We spend a lot of time at our desks working away but Wednesday is your excuse to get up and start walking for National Walking Day.

The American Heart Association (AHA) encourages you to get heart-healthy by walking to reduce your risk for heart disease.

There are a lot of ways to participate in the under-celebrated holiday: bring your walking shoes to work and take a 30-minute walking break you can also join the festivities in downtown Seattle for a group walk with AHA and Union Bank at 5th and Union starting at noon.

If you don’t live around Seattle you can find another walk in your community by going to PugetSoundHeartWalk.org

Also try taking part in their Shoe Decorating Contest for a chance to win a ton of cool prizes. All you need to do is decorate a walking shoe and submit a photo of it to AHA by April 7.

You can stop by the Union Bank on 5th and University during the group walk on April 4th to grab fun materials. Submit your photos via email to: king.walk@heart.org
